Area: 80 sq.m
This is a single storey extension to the rear of Aughnacloy, a classic period house in Killiney. The design resolves the client's concise brief to design a new main living space for the family. The open plan kitchen and dining room embrace the garden through the use of expansive folding glass doors. The snug family room is separate from the kitchen and dining area but the two are linked by a shared fire place and floor material. The new patio area is bounded on one sided by a curved granite bench that mirrors the curve of the dining room wall and overhanging zinc roof canopy.
This simple intervention is now the reinvigorated heart of the family home.
